The Shadow of a Doubt

Photobucket

“The Shadow of a Doubt”

They look upon my darkness.
And wonder why I remain.
As I stagger this jagged edge.
Believing me insane.

Tear drops fall and splatter
Shattering like panes of glass.
Tiny globes off memories, remains,
Just fragments from the past.

I entered the contract,
Misunderstanding the clause,
Perhaps I should have paused to read.
In my ignorance I saw no cause.

But you knew,
As you planned and saw.
Knowing inside how harsh,
I would fall.

Still I allowed you a place,
Where no truth should belong.
I found warmth, I felt safe.
Let you make me strong.

Tear drops fall and splatter
Shattering like panes of glass.
Tiny globes off memories.
Remains just fragments from the past.

I entered the contract,
Misunderstanding the clause,
Perhaps I should have paused to read.
In my ignorance I saw no cause.

Still I entered the contract, ignoring the clause.
The clause where you walked out.
I offered myself.
While you left me in doubt.

Forced into an uninformed role,
Of judge and jury.
My heart alone decides,
None but me.

The tears all and splatter
Shattering like panes of glass.
Tiny globes off memories.
Remains just fragments from the past.

I entered the contract,
Misunderstanding the clause,
Perhaps I should have paused to read.
My ignorance I offered no cause.

I missed the fine print.
Where you walked out.
I gave you the benefit,
You left me in the shadow of a doubt.
