A Tear Evaporates

“A Tear Evaporates”

Against the pen.
Against the ink,
I’ve begun to think.

Perhaps I’ve worn out my welcome.
Worn out the paper.
Worn out the pen.

Perhaps the words,
I say,
Come again and again.

Eyes grow tired,
Just like souls.
In the stories always told.

The back grows tired,
So do the ears.
As I attempt to impart my fears.

A scream becomes a cry.
A cry becomes a tear.
A Tear evaporates.
Why should I fear?

Inspiration

“Inspiration"

Inspiration comes,
At the most awkward of times.
Emotions reeling,
Try to place it to rhyme.

What am I feeling?
What’s this about?
Happiness or sadness?
Which has more clout?

Paint a happy picture,
Sing a sad song.
Which of the two are stronger?
As we move along.

Moving through the hours,
The days then years.
Crying for the sad and happy.
Simply falling tears.

Tears can be so random.
They can fall at any time.
For me they signify sadness,
But again these tears are mine.

Inspiration comes,
At the most awkward of times.
Emotions reeling,
Try to place it to rhyme.

Rigor

“Rigor”

The wound is old,
Still it leaks of blood and puss.
Past the point of treatment,
No need to fuss.

Decayed and stiff.
Rigor has clearly set in.
Flesh hangs hollow on bone,
From wounds back when.

Eyes lifeless, dreamless
Staring off into the night.
Flashes and moments.
Pupils still in the light.

Slap for a sign.
Some sign there’s some fight.
Be cautious and weary.
This corpse still has a bite.

Don’t reach for the paddles.
Far beyond any shock.
Time of death?
  Just look at the clock.

Between

"Between"

I stand at the horizon,
of today and tomorrow.
So tempted to look back,
and be swallowed by sorrow.

I wonder have I really,
traveled so far?
Standing here today,
I feel the scars.

I know they never.
That they never go away.
Even standing here.
Between tomorrow and today.

The Tracks

“The Tracks”

Do you ever catch yourself wondering,
If you screwed all of this up?
Kinda like when you’re pouring,
Not quite sure if you’ve filled the cup.

So many people come and go,
In such a short span of time.
Makes you wonder if two nickels,
Really equal a dime.

I guess there’s no denying.
The facts are the facts.
And the train can only,
Follow the tracks.

Tracks of what was,
Or of what will never will be.
I guess the never will be,
Is haunting me.

Do you ever catch yourself wondering,
If you screwed all of this up?
Kinda like when you’re pouring,
Not quite sure if you’ve filled the cup.

The Seeds You Have Sown

“The Seeds That You Have Sown”

If I repeat it again,
To anyone else I know.
Are tired of hearing,
All the seeds you have sown.

I could reiterate,
The lives you touched.
I guess unless you were there,
It’s just too much.

To believe,
That one single mom,
Could give more love.
Than she ever would receive.

I could repeat it again.
For anyone else to know.
But I wonder if they care to hear.
The seeds that you have sown.

Pencil To The Page

Pencil To The Page

Pencil to the page.
The words refuse to come.
Unnatural for me,
Casual for some.

Stare out above the trees.
Look deep into the sky.
So much time, so many years.
Still I wonder why.

I’ve wondered and wondered,
Until my mind won’t work anymore.
Am I wondering of the yesterdays,
Or the yesterdays before?

Am I frustrated with the morrow.
The light that it might bring?
Even if I had a voice,
I’m not sure that I would sing.

Pencil to the page.
The words refuse to come.
Unnatural for me,
Casual for some.

Three Little Words

“Three Little Words”

It’s too late.
Those were the words.
That’s what,
I heard.

Three little words.
That said every promise was a lie.
Three little words,
That said every kiss was goodbye.

Three little words.
That left me without hope.
Such little words,
When you consider their scope.

That every moment was an event,
With beginning, middle and end.
That every single memory,
Was a goodbye to my friend.

It’s too late.
I wonder if it’s what you meant.
Leaving me every moment,
To resent.

Just three little words.
It’s too late,
I love you.
Always wondering,
Which was true.

Scene

“Scene”

It sounds constructed,
Or created with intent.
Not something random.
As if it were imminent.

It sounds more like,
Something created,
For a specific crowds,
Enjoyment.

Not something wrong,
Dirty, random or unclean.
Just not words that first comes to mind.
When someone mentions a scene.

Not a place of random violence,
Not a place of intentional wrong.
But a place where people take their marks,
A point in a story where begins a song.

Scene describes so much.
Within a movie or event.
Not the last place.

Something Is Wrong

“Something Is Wrong”

Subtlety passive and elusive.
Unendingly quiet, unmistakably strong.
Almost like a hint or a whisper.
Something is wrong.

A soft note within a song,
An occupied shelf but something is gone.
Check three times but everything’s there.
Something is wrong.

Like a star is missing,
Up somewhere in the sky.
And you can’t point it out,
No matter how hard you try.

Like something so quiet,
Just at the edge of what you can hear.
Barely enough for a push or nudge,
All at once both far and near.

Subtlety passive and elusive.
Unendingly quiet, unmistakably strong.
Almost like a hint or a whisper.
Something is wrong.
