I try to listen,

But even my ears fall deaf.

After all you are,

The oldest friends I have left.

  

Not that that says much,

Or that it says a lot.

But in my keepsakes,

It is something I have got.

“Absent Rhymes”

    

I’m not used to,

Saying goodbye.

When I’m not the one,

Who’s walking away.

   

I’ve done it tons of times,

But this one’s different.

Ever quiet and,

Absent rhymes.

  

I know it’s time, 

For you to return.

But I won’t lie,

And say I won’t morn.

Just remember you were adored.

“The Etiquette of Goodbye”

   

I'm pretty practiced,

In the etiquette of goodbye.

I know sometimes,

We cry.

  

Been quite a while,

Since ones snuck up on me.

So funny when it’s upon you,

How much you see.

   

Still I’m very practiced, 

In the etiquette of goodbye.

So don’t mind me,

If I take a moment to cry.

“Say”

   

I’m kinda crying,

Outside my comfort zone.

I’m the one who leaves,

Not used being left alone.

  

Is that selfish?

Or a conceit?

But I see the tracks,

Not left of my feet.

    

Everyone goes.

So say what you say.

Life’s largest lesson,

Everyone goes away.

Rearview Glances

 

"Rearview Glances"

  

The tears just fall,

Into an endless stream.

Hoping that you’d wake,

This was all a dream.

But the sun moves,

As does the moon,

Counting makes it come,

All too soon.

  

All things pass,

From summer into fall,

Passing time,

Catches us all.

  

Rearview glances,

Always make us cry.

After so much time,

So hard to say goodbye.
