“It Always Feels Like Fall”
Just like season’s people change,
Month after month I turn the calendar on the wall.
Still somehow in the evenings dark,
It always feels like fall.
Record disasters arrive all the time.
Setting new records they somehow surpass.
The most tragic of moments we read about,
Horrible moments from the past.
We Walk.
We jog.
We sprint and we run.
Mindless unknowing,
What we’re running from.
Hopeful for blissful moments of warmth,
When we pause in the sun.
While we are running,
From all that’s been done.
By our hand or not,
The result is the burden we bear.
Flip through the photos we cry and smile.
Was I actually there?
We Walk.
We jog.
We sprint and we run.
Mindless unknowing,
What we’re running from.
Hopeful for blissful moments of warmth,
When we pause in the sun,
While we are running,
From all that’s been done.
Record disasters arrive all the time.
Setting new records they somehow surpass.
The horrible moments we’ve read about,
Tragic moments from the past.
Just like the season’s people change,
Month after month I turn the calendar on the wall.
Yet somehow in the evenings dark,
It always feels like fall.
