In Any Way

“In Any Way”

Out running errands,

When I ran into someone we used to know.

I entertained my curiosity,

Wondering how this might go.

They asked if I missed you,

Stunned, I didn’t know what to say.

I didn’t know how to answer,

The words blurred while the music played.

I simply replied,

There was never anyone to miss.

In confusion they wondered.

How I could be like this.

So before they could even ask,

It was simple, I knew what to say.

There was never anyone to miss.

Nobody was ever there,

In any way.

The Words Will Come

“The Words Will Come”

Like water pouring.

Over a very tall,

A very large,

Waterfall.

Once it starts,

Once it does begin.

I fear it will not stop.

It will not recede.

The seal has broken,

The damage is done.

The words will pour.

The words will come.

“Resume”

People on the outside,
Looking in.
They do not understand,
How hard this has been.

I suddenly find myself,
I am standing on a ledge.
Yesterday’s tomorrows,
I feel like I am at the edge.

The edge of a tomorrow,
I am not sure I can possibly handle.
My anxiety is very tough,
To wrangle.

It is like I have fallen off the horse,
And all I need to do is get back on.
But I find myself fearful.
My confidence is gone.

I hired someone,
To do my resume.
What have I found out?
I intimidate me.

“The Curtains”

It is 3 AM,
And I looked at the window,
And I thought I should change those.
Then I was filled with sorrow,
Change them?

But why?
I will not be here much longer.
Then I cry.
This place has been,
The constant thing in my life.
I know I have been blessed.
But I realize my life has been filled with strife.

I know that,
I am hurting.
But all I can think about.
Are the curtains,

“Broken”

I know my I feel Unbreakable.

That was so unbelievable.
Who was I,
To make that claim believable.

I am broken.
So many words,
That were spoken.
I know people think so small of me.

Must be strong,
When there’s,
No strength left,
In me anyway.

Broken.
I used to think I was Unbreakable.
Now I just think,
It is unspeakable.

I Have Two Candles Now

“I Have Two Candles Now”

I have two candles now.
One for my mom and one for my dad.
I light them on special days.
Or just when I am sad.

They are both gone now.
And I do not know where to turn.
The memories,
They burn.

I do not feel,
Like I had enough time.
With them.
I feel cheated.

But I have my two candles now.
I light them on special days.
I miss them so much,
In so many ways.

“Too much, Too Soon, Too Fast”

So much has changed,
In so few months.
I think this may be taking,
More than I’ve got.

I’m going to have to move again,
This will be the 21st time.
I feel like my world is spinning,
On a dime.

I’ve employed a resume writer,
In the hope I’ll find employment.
With some gain.
It’s driving me insane.

I just hope I can find something,
And somewhere.
That at least.
I can find some peace,
And have a moment for release.

A Cup of Water

“A Cup of Water”

This one is really,
Hard to wright.
I want to make sure,
It’s right.

On Christmas Eve,
My Dad asked me to get him,
A simple cup of water.
But for the simple things the Doctors said let him.

So I said you need to do that yourself,
And he ended up falling and breaking,
His hip and is arm.
So I called my sister in alarm.

I could not get him up,
On my own.
He couldn’t get up on his own.
This is something I own.

He ended up in rehab.
Then got pneumonia.
And on my 50th Birthday.
He died.
I’ve tried to get it out of my head.
Heaven knows I’ve tried.

A simple cup of water.
I don’t know what to say.
I guess it doesn’t matter,
In anyway.

“Next Door”

I used to have family and friends,
Next door.
But that is not going to happen,
Anymore.

Ten years,
Many tears.
But that is just not going to happen,
Anymore.

Where do I go from this?
Where do I go from here?
I’ve no idea,
From here to there.

I used to have family and friends,
Next door.
But that is not going to happen,
Anymore.

Of Whom We Are

 “Of Whom We Are”

I don’t want these words,
To go to waste.
I know how the public,
Rushes to haste.

Be us Transgender, gay,
Or Bi.
I no longer think,
I need to tell you why.

We are for the most part,
Invisible,
Yet you fear us.
Let me tell you why.

You cannot see us,
There is no defense.
Yet you want walls,
Want a fence.

But there is,
No defense.
We are not contagious,
There is no reference.

We cannot contaminate you.
We cannot give you spores.
We are simply a matter,
Of whom we are.

I Am The I

“I Am The I”

I am confused,
I am angry.
I am referring,
To me.

I am frustrated.
I am angry.
I am talking,
About me.

I should be exploring.
Searching for possibilities.
But there was no team.
There is only me.

I am not perfect.
I am not flawless.
In many people’s eyes.
I am simply a mess.

I should be doing something,
But, right now I cannot,
So, I am trapped.
A decade of unemployment.
How do I even measure that?

There is no I,
In Team.
But I am not speaking of them.
I am speaking,
Of Me.

Orphan

“Orphan”

I don’t want to sleep.
I don’t want to rest.
Does that mean,
I’m failing this test?

Is it a test or measure?
Some sort of quiz?
Normally at those things,
I’m a little bit of a whiz.

This is so very different.
Suddenly I’m an orphan now.
Very simply put.
I just don’t know how.

After Dad

“After Dad”

I should be asleep now.
I go from a million things on my mind.
Then utterly nothing.
I can think of or find.

I am restless,
I am so weary.
Even the brightest days,
Just feel dreary.

I would like I say I have answers.
I simply do not.
So I plod through every day.
With all I have got.

All I have got.
Should I be angry or sad?
Maybe even mad?
I must figure out life,
After Dad.

"That Line"

What will there be? What will be left of me?
I don’t really know anymore. What do people see?

Years are gone. I still know what I do is right.
But what will people see?
So how much in this, is left of me?

Am I more important? Am I more valuable?
How do you calculate? Or choose that scale?

When or how? How do I measure?
How do I draw that line?
I’m not seeking sympathy, pity or sorrow.
I realize this choice is mine.
I just want to know when, where and how?

Where is the departure of selfish?
Where is me and,
How can I draw that line?

A Simple What Could Have Been

A Simple What Could Have Been

I thought we re-wrote the stars.
I burst out of that dark little room.
For you.
Because of you.

Everyone in my life,
Should give you a round of applause.
A standing ovation.
Being with you.
Your vacation.
Your recreation.

You seemed so real.
But just a silhouette.
Shadowed by lies,
Right before my eyes.

So, I guess I took a ride on a horse with no name.
To a beautiful hotel in somewhere California.
Where nobody leaves,
And they remember your name.
Any time of year,
You can find me here.

I had to stop myself,
From believing.
After all.
It all was false.
Another lie.

And I banked it all on,
A simple what could have been.
Do you remember when I asked?
When I asked what you wanted?
Your silhouette said yes.
Still when the sun came out,
It quite simply set.

Such a long time ago,
It feels like a yesterday's before.
I remember the place we were.
But I don’t drive past there anymore.

“To the World from America”

We all are NOT Trump.

We are a land of immigrants,

We took this land from the Native American’s.

We restricted people of color from voting for 95 years.

Maybe we should give that back.

Allow, for 95 years where,

Native Americans and all people of color,

Enforce that their vote count as two votes.

For 95 years.

After all this time,

It only seems the only just thing to do.

Marble

“Marble”

Skin of marble,
Carved with might.
I fill myself with sun,
I fill myself.
I surround myself,
With star light.

The Eyes or The Shoulders

“The Eyes or The Shoulders”

Just finished brushing my teeth,
In the mirror I wondered,
What becomes tired first?
The eyes or the shoulders?

Almost 49 years now,
I am simply not sure.
Is it the eyes or the shoulders?
Which show most what we’ve endured.

I clearly wasn’t paying attention,
After knot ridden shoulders,
After all the tears.

 So, which is it?
Our eyes?
Or our shoulders?
After there have been so many,
Of life’s many boulders.

September 18th, 2018

“September 18th, 2018”

Everybody wants me gone.
I suppose it shouldn't have taken so long,
But they don't know when I wake up at night,
To check and see if everything's alright.
They just want me gone,
So, where does my soul feel or fit,
Like it should belong.

I thought I was doing good,
That I was doing what anyone would,
But still they want me gone.

Why do they want me gone?
I've done a good job and my dad is still strong,
So why do they want me gone?

I verbalized this one on my phone a week ago, while waiting for some Mexican food.  Here it is in its original verbiage, I spoke the words in an email to myself exactly one week ago. Didn't know for sure why until now:

“Before”

I haven’t written anything,

In a very long time.

I guess my heart just isn’t where,

It was before.

Maybe cracked, maybe chipped.

But it isn’t broken anymore.
